Merry Christmas To Me. I Think?

Today was an interesting day. As I came home from work with my arms full, I proceeded to put a couple of bottles of water into the fridge, while holding a stack of books and papers and my cell phone. One of the bottles of water tipped over in the fridge and as I went to straighten it up my bundle slipped and up went my cell phone into the air and straight down onto the concrete floor in the garage.

I wasn’t worried a bit because my phone was in a protective case. What I didn’t realize until after I picked it up was that the glass screen had shattered into a million pieces! Yikes! I guess I had assumed the case protected the ENTIRE phone, never realizing the glass could or would break.

So, back into the car I went and headed down to my local cell phone dealer. Once I arrived, I explained what had happened to my phone and that I paid monthly for insurance so I just needed to file a claim and get a new one.

The girl who waited on me was happy to help. She kindly filed the claim on the computer and once she was finished, informed me the cost would be $200.00 to fix it.  I am certain that my eyes got as big as my head at that moment and I looked at her and shook my head and said, no you don’t understand, I pay monthly for the insurance in case something happens to my phone. To which she explained to me that even though I paid monthly for it, there was still a deductible, like car insurance…Funny, cuz I don’t recall being told that when I signed up for it?

After reviewing my account, she then informed me that I was eligible for an upgrade on my phone and we discussed the cost and which phone I would like. I had looked into upgrading a month ago and decided I wasn’t ready to do it yet…Like it or not, I guess now I was ready.

So, after approximately an hour my new phone had been ordered and would be arriving in just a few days. I was only gonna have to pay a little more each month for my “new phone” and not have to shell out $200.00 to fix my old one. WIN WIN for me. At least that’s what I keep telling myself.  🙄

Ever have one of those days?
